Patricia Helmetag
Patsy attributes her perseverance to
her good fortune at joining BWW. "BWW’s always-valuable, no-holds-barred critiques, as
well as learning from editing other members’ works, has been life
altering."
Look for her short story, "The Shrew Trapper," coming out in the next Dark Moon Digest.
"The Kindness of Strangers," appeared in The Bluestone Review in May, 2014.

PATRICIA HELMETAG's
creativity was in the physical realm of graphic design, and oil painting until 2004 when the
Brood X Cicadas emerged. She and her daughter, Kita Murdock, co-wrote, and Patsy illustrated, a
children’s book, Cecily Cicada. Initially it was written to
soothe her granddaughter’s fear of bugs, but the little book caught on and sold like
hotcakes from May until July when, alas, the cicadas all died. But it was enough for Patsy to
get the bug—and Kita, too

Patsy's short story, Tandem, was published in
October 2013 in Mouse Tales Press, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Patsy completed the forth leg of her trip across the US on a recumbent bicycle with her
elementary school friend in July – and will continue the trip for two or three weeks
every summer until they reach the Atlantic Ocean. Tandem, is one of the stories inspired
by this trip.
Check out the summer 2013 leg of the XC bicycle trip - from Wisdom, MT to Granby, CO.
